Welcome to My New Author and Bookseller Website

Welcome to my new author and bookseller website. I'm Donny Bailey Seagraves, a published author and longtime bookseller. I'm a native of Athens, Georgia, home of the University of Georgia, rock bands like R.E.M., the B-52s and Widespread Panic, plus numerous artists and published authors.

For many years, I had two different websites: An author website, where I showcased my books and writing, and a bookseller website, where I shared information about my used, collectible and out-of-print book business, Junebug Books. I've been writing and publishing for more than 30 years and have owned and operated my book business, Junebug Books (also known as Junebug Books and Collectibles) for almost 25 years. Now, in the year 2023, I've decided to combine my two websites. After all, being an author and selling books are connected. Why have two different websites?

My first published book, Gone From These Woods, a children's middle-grade/YA novel, was published by Random House (now Penguin Random House) as a Delacorte Press hardback in 2009. Cooking With Annie D: Southern Recipes Seasoned With Seagraves and Pettyjohn Family History was published by Coile Grove Press in 2022. So I started my published author journey with the largest publisher in the world and now, like many traditionally published authors, I have joined the world of indie publishers. Both ways of publishing work. You end up with a book in your hands and in online marketplaces and for the most part, you are responsible for marketing your work. I'll be writing more about both ways of publishing in future blogposts.

My book business began in 1998 when I pulled a rare book by a famous Disney Illustrator from a box at an Athens, Georgia thrift store. After selling that book for almost $600 on ebay, I took that money to my local bank and opened my first business bank account. I'll be writing more about bookselling, books, and authors, especially Athens area authors, in future blogposts.
